How to Double the Life of My Water Heater
Sep 22, 2021
Did the time finally come where your water heater took its last breath? You got a lot of good years out of that water heater, but now it’s time to move onto a bigger and better water heater. When asked the question “Should I get a gas or electric water heater?”, the team at Just Water Heaters has some advice for you. When it comes to choosing which kind of water heater you should get, there are a lot of things to consider.
Gas Water Heaters
Gas water heaters use natural gas to heat up the water that runs through your home. At least 60% of homes currently use gas water heaters, but that doesn’t mean they are the right solution for every household. The reason people prefer gas water heaters is that they end up paying for themselves each year. They end up saving you so much money in the long run, and they are considered to be the better investment. Another reason people prefer gas water heaters is that they can heat up your water much faster than an electric water heater.
The downside to gas water heaters is that they cost a lot more than an electric heater, but as we said before, they end up being worth it long-term. Another issue with gas water heaters is that if you don’t schedule water heater repair, you can run into some pretty serious and expensive issues.
Electric Water Heaters
Electric water heaters use electrical resistance coils to heat that water that runs through your house and this method is much more energy-efficient. The good thing about this kind of water heater is that it comes in a wide variety of sizes that can be used short-term and long-term. Since the water in an electric water heater isn’t constantly being heated like it is in a gas heater, you save so much energy each month. But with this pro comes a con. Since your water isn’t constantly being heated, it takes a little bit longer for your shower or sinks water to heat up.
Which one is right for you?
Determining which option is right for you and your home is all based on personal preferences. As a water heating company that works on a lot of water heaters each week, we always recommend gas water heaters since they heat up your water much faster and last much longer. But we understand they are a steeper investment and cost you more monthly, but in our opinion, it’s worth it.
